Autobiography: "Overcome"
|
During the 2004 Stars on Ice tour Alexei took time two hours daily to dictate his autobiography. The first draft was written in English only to be translated later in Russian so his mother could read it and check the parts he wasn’t remembering well or wasn’t sure of.
Being a spoken minded and sincere person as always everything was put in there, starting with his childhood while growing up in the former Soviet Union, training with Alexei Mishin, first major competition win, moving to the States to train with Tatiana Tarasova, the Gladiator era and the so much wanted Olympic win in Salt Lake City.

It turned out to be a captivating book including over 300 hundred photos, some of them part of Alexei’s private collection, and all the fans couldn’t wait to get their hands on it. And still another translation followed, this time in Japanese, because the publishers had decided to target the Japanese market.
In December 2004 Alexei went to Japan to do some shows and with this occasion he also did a couple of signing sessions as his autobiography had just come out there.

Three years later, in December 2007, his autobiography was published in Russia with the title "Naprolom".
Extra chapters and photos were added to cover the period since the book had been initially written and up until present times.
The rest of the world is still waiting for an English version.
